Opened in May of 2008, the business known as Bottomfeeder Bay was built from the ground up by its owners, Ben and Zseraldina Blevins with a lot of help from friends and staff members. The building, which sits at 139 W. Pine St. was built in the 1870's and much of the original structure can still be seen. For example, when you walk through the glass garage door entrance and look to your right, you will notice the original rock wall that Zseraldina cleaned, mortared and sealed herself! A look to your left and you will see an antique safe that was left by previous owner, the late Kelly Vannetta, which was also from around the American Civil War times.
The front of the building is where the delicious Cajun-style cuisine is served daily, which you can smell cooking all throughout Pine Street! Chef Jimi and the gang are busy preparing fresh meals all day, every day, and are very excited about adding something different to the normal downtown food scene. Also in the front, you will notice the local artwork displayed by house artist Scotty D. who is also known by his pen name "580".
A walk to the back and you will notice the much talked about boat shaped bar. The ONLY boat shaped bar in Missouri, I might add! The bar offers a wide variety of imported beers and liquors from all over the world, along with a hearty selection of Missouri brewed beers, and everything in between. From Boulevard to Schlafly, we strive to keep it as local as possible! While you are here, make sure you ask for one of our Hungarian favorites, Bull's Blood Wine and/or Zwack Unicum liqueor. Being that Zseraldina is from Hungary, she insists that we carry Hungarian products which is a good thing because we are the only bar in Warrensburg who does! We are also proud to be the only place in town to offer 40 oz. of Malt Liquor including Miller High Life, Mickey's, Budweiser, and Bud Light.
Our fancy red and blue stage attracts all types of acts from your local favorites, to original touring bands such as Vermillion Lies, Taarka, and Joe Buck Yourself. The goal upon opening was to offer live music 6 nights a week, and we do a great job at holding to that promise! We also showcase other types of acts including (but not limited to) stand-up comedy, guest d.j.s, and poetry readings. Yes, it is true what you have been hearing, Bottomfeeder Bay offers something for just about everyone! Our regular performers include Michael Bell & His One Man Band on Monday nights, Lonesome Cowboy Bart on Tuesdays, "15 Minutes Of Fame" open mic on Wednesdays, and local college favorites The Paperclips every other Thursday night.
So come one, come all and check out Bottomfeeder Bay at 139 W. Pine St. in beautiful downtown Warrensburg, just a short walk from the University of Central Missouri! Don't forget to ask for our famous "Gumbo & A 40 oz." meal deal to get your belly full before dancing the night away to your favorite live performers.
